Department of Special Investigation (DSI) officials will be summonsed for questioning over the death of Thawatchai Anukul, a former Phangnga land official, Thung Song Hong police chief Pol Col Mana Phochuay said on Thursday (Sept 7).

Thawatchai died while in DSI custody last year.  He was found in coma in a detention cell of the DSI after having been detained for malfeasance in connection with land encroachment in Phuket. He later died at Mongkutwattana Hospital.

Following an inquest into Thawatchai’s death, the Criminal Court’ ruled that he died of suffocation and a ruptured liver caused by some other people on Aug 30 last year.

Really?

I thought he died of knowing too much.

A rare condition, but often quite lethal.

Why is it necessary for the police to announce DSI officials will be summonsed for questioning?

It smacks of "Look, we are doing something. You all think we are doing nothing but we are doing something and we will announce every tiny, feigned step to ensure that nobody fails to notice we are doing something, however pointless that may be."

It is very similar to the Red Bull saga.

A year later...

But the most important question is: who stole the "D" from the DSI plaque, and is there CCTV footage? You do not mess with plaques in Thailand and get away with it(unless you are military).

Caused by "SOME OTHER PEOPLE" =?????

Well done- 3 posts in for a mention to a completely irrelevant and different case which didn't even involve the DSI.

I have shown the parallel, the announcements of supposed police activity that in reality are nothing but a smokescreen for inaction.

Thai cover ups are so funny sad they killed him because he knew to much TIT

Shake the tree, threaten immediate 10 year prison for all officers in the station that night if nobody comes clean, that will get them pointing fingers
