Different Immigration locations for reporting 90 days and Renewal of Visa

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I live in Chiang Mai but last year was staying with Wife’s family in Korat and got my Retirement Visa while I was there. When my renewal and 90 day is due I will be in Bangkok will there be any issues me getting my 90 day and renewal done at Bangkok immigration even though my permanent address is in Chiang Mai.

Thanks

You can only apply for an extension of stay (it is not a visa) at the designated office for where you living.

You can only do 90 day reports at the office where you got your extension unless you formally change your address to where you are doing it.

You could apply for the extension in Bangkok if you had proof of residence for there.

I suspect you changed your address when you applied in Korat.

You have to make a formal report of changing address (TM28 and TM30) to use a different Immigration office.

Im in korat and do my 90 day report sometimes in pattaya no problems!

I am registered at Sakon Nakon Immigration and tried to do 90 day report at Udon Thani only to be told I must report to Sakon.

Thanks guys reading between the lines it looks like I should be able to get my extension and 90 days as long as I get TM30 from hotel I will be staying at for 3 weeks while in BKK? Guess won't really know until I try

Cheers

As far as I know, you can do your 90 report on-line from anywhere (although I haven't tried it from out of the country, and yes, I know once you've left you don't need to report, but I wonder if the on-line system would still let you...?).

You just need to tell it the same address as where you last did your extension (or previous 90 day)

You could access the online reporting site from anywhere and submit an application for the report. The application is then sent to the local office for where you are living. If you used an address different from where you did your extension or last report it would likely be denied.

The office it is sent to is based upon the province and district you select when you do the application.

Exactly... that was my point.. you need to report the address the same as the one "they" have on file for you, i.e. the address where you did your last extension, or where you last did an in-person 90 day assuming you officially changed your address to there using the TM28/30, etc.

(I still wonder what would happen if you tried to submit an on-line 90 day report a couple of days after you've left T/L..  I assume the airport Immigration advises your local office...  but of course most people leaving have nothing to do with a local office.  Must all be done via a central computer.)

Why would anybody bother to do that. If you leave the country on or before the 90th day there is no need to do the report. You have to do the online application 15 to 7 days before the report is due. Outside that window it would be disapproved by the local office.

The database the 90 day reporting system accesses only is to check the basic info you submitted on the first page of the application. That database only has a record of you last entry to the country.
