bleble
Hello, Does it exist ? Chicken breast (frozen), good quality that is not watery/mushy and not "enhanced" or "plumped" ? Or all frozen chicken breast is low quality processed food by the agro industry scammers ? I know tat fresh is always better, but sometimes you don't go out and it's handy to have some frozen, but I cannot find good quality at any supermarket in Thailand, why ? Cheers. JamJar
I buy the frozen chicken breast from Betagro....and feed it to my pets. A fair amount of suspect meat products around. If you are one of those who buys their chicken from those open to the air trays at the supermarkets, those are thawed out products anyway. So you might as well buy frozen from Betagro in the first place. So I only purchase certain pre-packed products.

realenglish1
I dont like the open air trays I see Thai sneezing ,wiping their nose and then handling the birds Not for me behind a glass is better
Tidybeard
Always buy fresh from Tops Supermarket and then freeze it myself ... superb quality. Totally different to Tescos !
tolsti
I very rarely buy breast as I find thighs much tastier with the added benefit of the skin. I get mine from Tesco Express in Soi Boukeaw in packs of 2 from the chilled section. They are super... I then just either take them out of the packs and pop them into zip lock bags for freezing or simply put the whole pack in the freezer. Breasts are available also. They seem to sell out a couple of times a week so there is a good turnover.

They come vacuum packed so only chilling is needed. They don't seem to have water injected like the frozen variety.

bleble
So the frozen chicken breasts always are injected ? Nowhere they sell healthy frozen ones ?

I was referring to " chicken from those open to the air trays at the supermarkets," which are not thawed out as they were never frozen. I've seen them topping up the open trays from the vacuum packs in Big C. Don't know about Betagro whatever that is.

I buy fresh pre-packed thighs, purportedly without hormones etc

I know because I buy them. Have you ever been to Betagro? They have exactly the same packaging. They have packs in the shop with their branding and they have packs in the freezer at the back in the see through packs that you see being emptied in the likes of the supermarkets with the open trays. This includes the likes of Friendship.

They have differing qualities for sale. Likely the restaurants and supermarkets utilise and sell the stuff that comes from the bags sold frozen in Betagro and the like. Not that is bad, but is has almost certainly been frozen. Freezer pic at the bottom of the post. http://www.betagro.com/food/en/product/2032/114 On the other hand, Betagro also sell chilled products via the supermarkets. you can go for their S-Pure brand http://www.betagro.com/food/en/product/brand/110 Edited September 14, 2017 by JamJar
JamJar
So if you buy chicken from those open trays in certain supermarkets, save yourself some money and buy from Betagro and defrost them at leisure. They may also have some defrosted or chilled packs in the chillers in the Betagro shop.

They contain maybe 10 kilos of chicken legs.

From whence do you think they obtain their chicken? From suppliers other than CP and Betagro? https://shoponline.tescolotus.com/groceries/en-GB/products/6070849374 https://shoponline.tescolotus.com/groceries/en-GB/products/6070849307 https://shoponline.tescolotus.com/groceries/en-GB/products/6070849366 As I stated earlier. Everyone on the thread, including yourself. You shouldn't be posting as if you know something, if you do not. All of the raw chicken product in the supermarkets(that includes BIG C, Tesco, Friendship etc) come from two suppliers in the main; CPF and Betagro. If you think that the product in the tray are your finest fresh chilled products, I hope you don't run a restaurant in Pattaya.
