All smiles as Russian and his wife gratefully 'wai' "Big Pig"

PATTAYA: -- It was all smiles at Pattaya Police Station yesterday as another important case was quickly solved by the sleuths of the local constabulary.

A Russian tourist and his wife were reunited with their bag and property after a theft just three days ago at a city water park.

The unnamed victims were pictured thanking station chief Apichai Krobpetch who We Love Pattaya referred to as "Big Moo" (Big Pig).

The Russian and his wife had left their bag on a table at Pattaya Park while they went for a swim. When they returned it was gone. Among the items missing was a phone and a necklace.

They reported the theft to Pattaya police who swung into action getting a lead in the case thanks to a clever use of CCTV footage.

Eighteen year old Anupong Rakat from Samut Prakarn was rounded up three days later in Sri Racha.

That's him in the sky blue helmet being pointed at by the Thai wife in front of the "Performance of Important Case" (sic) banner at the Pattaya police station.

Big Moo himself helped out with the pointing at the getaway vehicle - a motor cycle.

Many Thai posters on the Facebook site said that they should show the face of the thief. One poster helpfully informed them that abroad that would not be done.

Another poster said that he wanted to see the face so that they could give him a good kicking when they got out of jail.

Thaivisa notes that the word "moo" is usually used as a term of endearment.

In UK/US the insulting word for police is 'pigs,'  Here it's a term of endearment!  Why would Big Pig concern himself with a bag snatch?  Surely he gets all the headlines when 82 soldiers and 140 police raid a bar on 3rd Road and capture four under-age drinkers?

Wouldn't the correct Romanization of Big Pig be "Moo Yai" instead of "Big Moo" ?

The article is promoting Thai-lish language.

Did they find the sleeves to his shirt?

No. As part of his 'self-reward' and bid to become a Quality Tourist he has set aside ThB350 to buy a Tee shirt from Lotus even though this will reduce the revenue gained from advertising beer on his vest. Next, to get shot of the cargo shorts....

With a headline like that... I just had to look!

The Thai grammar book says it should be "pig big."

You buy the ฿350 t-shirts? That's a bit hi-so for Lotus.

"Big Pig" must work in the "big trough station"

Another great job by the police, thanks to cctv.
