Visa extension

Featured Replies

Excuse me I did not want to start topic to get answers to my questions. I am coming to Thailand  to attend my sister's wedding next month. I will apply for tourist visa which is valid for 3 months and for proof of finance I am showing balance in savings account as required. I want to know please if I have to extend my visa beyond 90 days what documents I have to show AGAIN and where I should go. Thank you very much!

A visa cannot be extended.

A tourist visa allows a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days at a immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

If you wanted to stay longer than 90 days you would have go out for another tourist visa or leave and re-enter the country to get a visa exempt entry if you qualify for one.

Sir thank you for responding. If you can help me please. I am coming from Mumbai which is in India. I am getting 60 day tourist visa oh I thought it was valid for 90 days. Ok no problem. So before it expire I can go to immigration office and they will give me an extension for another 30 day stay correct? But Sir, can you please tell me what documents they will ask AGAIN at the immigration office when I ask them to please let me stay for 30 days more for a fee as you said 1900 bahts? That was my question. Also can you please tell me if I can do a border run to get a tourist visa for 60 days. I am from India. Thank you very much!!

I am sorry I confused beween visa validity and stay allowance. Please help.

The visa is valid for entry for 3 months. And as I wrote you will only get a 60 day entry from a tourist visa.

The bad news for you since you apparently are a citizen of India you will not be able to get the 30 day extension. You would only get 7 days to leave the country if you applied for an extension and paid the 1900 baht.

You also cannot get another tourist visa at any nearby embassy or consulate.

You would only be able to get a 15 day visa on arrival (2000 baht) if you were to leave and re-enter the country.

God. Sir can you please tell me how much time it takes to get a work permit when my employer applies for it and can they apply for it during the first two months of my stay. My sister and her would-be Thai husband have formed their own company and I mean to join it.

I does not take very long to apply for a work permit. But for it to be issued you will need a non immigrant B visa (non-b visa) for it to be issued.

You would need a work permit application approval letter to have the non-o visa issued. You will likely have to return to India to apply for the non-b visa unless you and the company can qualify for a change of visa status to get a non immigrant visa entry. Requirements for the change of status is here, https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_72
