early extension stay on non imm b work because of validity WP

as I understand my work permit should be valid 8 months upon applying for extension of sat on non imm b,

my WP is valid until June 1 2018 so 8 months is 1 October.

But my non Imm B, 3 months initial, is valid until 31 October.

Would it be allowed to apply for extension on September 19 ?

That would give me approximately 10 days margin before the WP is valid less than 8months.

And where did you hear this "8 months" from? That is if you are applying for a multi-entry Non-B from Penang, not getting an extension at immigration in Thailand.
