Police have arrested two Thai men in Bangkok’s Thung Khru district this week for allegedly setting up an online shop to sell BB guns that had been modified for use as real guns.

Udom Ruamjit and Sitthisak Padthaisong, both 37, were presented during a press conference at the 191 patrol and special operation division on Tuesday along with 10 pistols, 200 sets of components to modify BB guns into real guns, 200 bullets and other gun-modifying tools.

Udom was arrested first at a postal service company’s branch office in Soi Pracha Uthit 90, while Sitthisak was arrested at a three-storey townhouse in Soi Pracha Uthit 125, said Tourist Police acting deputy chief Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakpan.

Both men reportedly confessed to using an online channel to sell guns at Bt8,500 each for about eight months. They claimed to have sold about 200 modified guns with equivalent efficiency to normal guns.

They were charged with illegally producing and selling guns, and possessing guns without permission.
