METV ADVISE

Featured Replies

Need some advise please. Just received my METV from the Los Angeles, Embassy in the mail. The past, 2 times, it would take at least 10 business before I received it via FedEx. This time it only took 6 business days before it was FedEx back. Anyhow the Visa is effective Sept. 20th and it is good until March 19th 2018. The problem is my flight out is March 22nd so it looks like I'm short 3 days of Visa stay time. Are there any other options other then making a in/out boarder run or go to immigrations and get a 30 day extension prior to March 19th......Thanks

The visa expiry date is the last date it can be used to enter Thailand. It does not affect the admitted until date on the permission to stay of your last entry. Unless you plan to enter Thailand after March 20th, you do not appear to have an issue.

You can get a 30 day extension of any of the 60 day entries you get from the METV.

You could also leave and re-enter the country on or before March 19th and get a new 60 day entry.

So I only need to worry about what the last immigration "Admitted Until" date says in my passport, even if the METV Visa "Enter Before" date is past??....I think I got it now thanks....

That is all you have to worry about. The enter before date is just that not the date you have to leave the country.

Thanks for your input BritTim.....

Depends where your staying in Thailand, but in 9 out of 10 situations, it's probably more cost effective and less time consuming to get a 30 day extension at your local Immigration office (1,900 baht) V travelling to a border for another entry.
