Pattaya-Map Ta Phut motorway nearly half finished

By The Nation

Construction of an extension in the motorway from Pattaya to Map Ta Phut is 46 per cent completed, Department of Highways director general Thanin Somboon said this week.

He said an additional Bt2 billion is needed for operations and maintenance on the 32-kilometre eastern route, for which terms of reference are being prepared.

The operation-and-maintenance system should be in place by mid-2018 and the highway extension open by 2020, Thanin said.

Bidding for the construction of two more routes – Bang Yai-Kanchanaburi and Bang Pa-in-Nakhon Ratchasima – would take place early next year, he said.

The Cabinet approved the two projects early this month and financing methods will be considered next month.
