Taco
I am looking to hire a young aspiring Thai chef to hire at my restaurant and have had some difficulties finding culinary schools to post my job offer. Most google searches in English mostly show cooking classes for farang learning Thai cooking. My Thai manager has not had much luck or my guess has not tried very hard to find information for me with Thai language searches so seeing if anyone out there has been through this experience and might have some tips. Restaurant is located in Koh Phangan so I know that reduces the amount of people willing to work far from friends and family so I want to spread the job offer as far as possible. I am offering a large apartment near the restaurant and think that maybe a younger chef with an open mind to learn new food might be a good fit. Call or contact the just-completed Masterchef Thailand people (Facebook/masterchefthailand for starters). I think maybe half a dozen of their final 16 are looking for an opportunity, almost all of them are young, in their teens of 20s, and a couple or three of them are from the South. Taco
Thanks on the facebook tips. I am the one of the only restaurant owners who has never used facebook (although made a pretty penny on its stock:)) but I do have someone who runs the restaurants face book so will get her on it. I still have this gut feeling that dealing with a thai culinary school could work out well. They know who their best students are and might be able to recommend so I am open for more suggestions on where those might be.
Tracyb
https://www.cordonbleu.edu/thailand/home/en Perhaps the Cordon Bleu school in Bangkok could provide some information for you. Their long term training programs attract serious students. Best of luck!

BV70
MSC Cooking School in either Thong Lo or Ekamai has a good reputation for training Thai chefs and issues formal qualifications certified by the Thai Ministry of Labor. The school specialises in Thai, as opposed to Western, food. Maybe a worth a try?
tpkhk
Bangkok Thai Cooking Academy (BKK, Phuket & Hua Hin) has a Thai Chef Placement service (for a fee of course) if that is of interest. They have their own website.
blackcab
Your problem isn't your chef, it's your manager. How are you going to run a successful business when your manager can't even find staff? This should be a big warning sign for you.
