This is what Newman said in a statement after his release:

Anyone who has read the text of it or who has seen the video of me reading it knows that the words were not mine and were not delivered voluntarily. Anyone who knows me knows that I could not have done the things they had me “confess” to. To demonstrate that I was reading the document under some duress, I did my best to read the “confession” in a way that emphasized the bad grammar and strange language that the North Koreans had crafted for me to say. I hope that came across to all who saw the video.

Stunning some actually believe these confessions are real.  Incredible.

So knowing all the atrocities they commit, both against their people and to others around the world, you've got a NK flag as an avatar?  Unreal.

Though less unreal than your sense of fashion.

Stop calling him a thief.

He was a thief. Past tense, obviously, as his thieving actions resulted in him dying.

What's worrying is that people automatically believe the American propaganda machine. Quoting US sources of propaganda. Next ye will be saying that there are WMD's in Iraq.

There is no one to blame in this story but the thief and his thieving actions. He took his chance, couldn't help himself, and now his family don't have their son because of it.

So if he didn't commit the crime, he's a thief?  Seriously?

You're comments are sick.  Glad his parents don't have to read your drivel. You should be ashamed.

Good lord.

The thief was caught red handed.

Confessed.

Went down for it.

You're a troll and nothing more.

So let me get this straight.  You call American news Propaganda.  But are OK with that coming from North Korea?

Talk about trolling! LOL  Hard to believe anybody would fall for that.

He admitted guilt.

Was found guilty in a court of law.

You have proof that he was innocent of the charges???

Do you??

The thief should have behaved himself and held back from his thieving ways.

He admitted guilt.................in North Korea. Like he had a choice :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

Where is your proof of this?

Or is it speculation on your part???

It's amazing what some people speculate, when their speculation lines up perfectly with their indoctrinated beliefs.

Or am I wrong, and you do have proof and it's not speculation on your part?

It's a figure of speech.  IE: he was not speaking of his own free will.  As has been reported by many others in the same situation once they were able to leave the country.

No speculation.  Just reports from people who went through these forced confessions.  Surely you understand that?

So how many commeters have been to Noth Korea. I have been to SK and that

was scary enogh. DLng , I guess you and Bagoon have been there as you seem

to be siding with them. Or are you both just jerkng everybodys chain?

Geezer

SK is fantastic.  Far from scary.  I know quite a few people who've been to NK.  The biggest issue was never being allowed to go anywhere without an escort.  And only being able to follow a pre planned itinerary.  NO deviations.  But they all enjoyed the trip.  Then again, these are the same people who enjoyed their visit to Somalia and Angola! LOL

For Baboon and D Lang,  are you two people just trying to stir things up or are you

both actually serious in your comments.  Just wondering if you are maybe

supporters of NK. Hmmm

Geezer

Serious? I am. But then I actually know what I am talking about when it comes to this subject unlike many others who would be screwed without immediate access to Wikipedia.

Every police force in the World has/does force confessions, not of every suspect, but some. Watch In The Name Of The Father.

That's to say that people admitting guilt in the UK did so 'with a gun to their head'. It's nonsense.

Of course, such slandering couldn't be US propaganda..... could it. :whistling:

He got himself into this whole mess because he was a thief.

BS.  Not every police force in the world does forced confessions.  Incredible you believe this was an actual confession.  Especially after a comment like that! :cheesy:

Where's the proof he stole something?  Credible links only, please.  And solid evidence.

So you've lived in NK?  That's about the only way to really be an expert on the subject.

Name one police force that has never forced a confession.....

Thanks.

To deduct that every confession in every police station in the World is forced, just because every police force has done it/does it to some degree, is ridiculous.

He was caught. He admitted it. He was sentenced for it. His thievery cost him his life. There really is only one person to blame for that. Himself.

I don't claim to be an expert, just far better read on the subject than most if not all on here.

Quite an arrogant assumption.  And if you've never been there, definitely not an expert.  You've still not answered why you support that regime so strongly.

He didn't admit it.  Good gosh.  It was a forced confession.  Don't you get that?  You even say police forces do this!  But then say this one wasn't forced.  Bizarre!

Not arrogant, a statement of fact. You also must know perfectly well I have been there.

Sorry, but don't remember that post.  Or just forgot.  I was away on a long trip for most of August and part of September.

How long were you in NK?

Only 8 days on the tourist trail, but it was fascinating none the less.

I'd like to visit one day.  As you know, I've been to many interesting places.  Mostly as a tourist.  But doesn't mean I support them.

I've been to Cuba many times.  Spent a fair amount of time there.  Not always as a tourist.  I'd never support that government.  What I learned from that trip was how bad they treat their people.  I'd never have a Cuban flag as my avatar.  It'd be a disgrace to the friends I have there who struggle so hard just to get by.

Any opportunity for a point scoring exercise, eh?
