I have now overstayed my visa (10 days) due to the fact that I have sent my passport to an African countries embassy to obtain a visa and it has been delayed over the holidays. I was just wondering if anyone has had this same problem? Is it a valid reason to overstay because my passport was stuck in another countries embassy? I had tickets to leave before but have had to cancel them and wait for my passport to arrive before I can leave. If someone has had the same problem any advice would help? Should I just go through the immigration at the airport in BBK or to a local office first?

Hi juicer,

I do not know how to solve your problem, but what I know is that you play a very dangerous game ! :o

Don't you know that you must ALWAYS keep your passeport with you (or at least at the hotel) when you are in a foreign country ?

Don't you know that it's illegal to send your passeport abroad in such a case ?

Do you imagine all the problems you could have if you NOW have a control of police/immigration/ ...

You are in irregular situation and with no passeport !! :D

My point of view is : Pray for your passeport to be back quicly and then take your plane for home with a good excuse to explain your overstay at the immigration...

Good luck

PS: If you are a frequent traveler with a frequent need of visas, ask in your country for a second passeport.

look even when you go to any country and apply for a Thailand visa then they take possession of your passport for the processing period. That's 100% normal.

No idea if he can get by without paying overstay. He should contact his home country embassy asap and explain things.

u will have to pay overstay for sure. the whereabouts of ur passport are solely ur own responsibilty. ur overstay is relatively small so i would just go to the airport, pay up and leave. going to suan phlu is just gonna create more confusion and may result in undesirable circumstances for u.

hope this helps

This is a perfect example of why some people need 2 passport, or even more.........

One passport for residence, in Thailand for example, and a second off at an embassy for a visa application.

In some cases vsia applications can take weeks......

India is the only country I know of, that accepts your application with a photocopy of the passport,

and then retains the original for a few hours only, once the application has been approved,

in order to issue the visa.
