lampard10
I thought the rocket festival was exclusive to Yasathon, and normally is held first or second week in May.
barryofthailand
They also have a rocket festival in Surin Amphur Prasat in July. Good festival, better in upper Esan. Barry

Cuban
I second "Yasathon" is the place to go, although there are festival events all over Issan. I have some video and stills from Yasathon May '06 that I intend to format and put online within the next few months. Those with weak bladders or any form or respect for Health & Safety are best to watch the event from the safety of another country. The airtraffic warnings placed during the event are wise, these rockets are serious bits of kit - going up to a few km, without ANY form or guidance or control. Think of a very big firework rocket made from a blue plastic water pipe about 20cm in diameter tied to about 7 meters of bamboo. The event takes place over a weekend, I found one day (the Sunday) is enough for me - the day of rocket firing. For those that plan ahead: Book a hotel if you are not travelling up for the day. Bring an umbrella - it is ###### hot. etc...
