Do I really need to bring a bank statement with me?

Featured Replies

Was going to apply for MTEV in USA before heading to BKK for 2 months. I read they want a bank statement as proof you have $$ plus multiple pay stubs as well? I am self employed and the stubs will be difficult to provide? I am not really comfortable either with showing my bank statements too. What to do?

You don't need a visa for 60 day stay - the 30 day visa exempt can be extended 30 days at immigration.

For two months a single-entry tourist visa will do the trick (and it too can be extended by a further 30 days giving a total of 90 days if needed) much less stringent requirements than the METV.

And if need be you can buy a re-entry permit to travel.

It seems you don't need to get a METV. A single entry tourist visa would be enough for your stay.

For a METV you have to have $7000 in the bank for 6 months prior to the application. If self employed you can show business or company registration instead of proof of employment.

For a single entry tourist visa you will need to show at least $700 in the bank on the date you apply. You will need to show a ticket to here and one out of the country.

Are single entry tourist visas still free or has that promo expired?

It expired in February for those from most countries and the end of August for those from 21 countries.

I wasn't aware that one could get a re-entry permit with a 60 day tourist visa. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance.

You can get a re-entry permit that will keep the remainder of 60 day entry valid when you re-enter the country. You will be stamped in to the same date that you got when you entered the country using the visa.

Thank you Joe. Always appreciate your advice.
