Medical certificate for UK Thai Embassy

Featured Replies

Had anyone recently had the medical certificate completed and signed by a GP in the UK?

I thought this would be simply a matter of asking my local GP to sign it, stating that I was free of the 5 diseases listed.

Not so!

The practice manager informed me it would cost £168 for the appointment, then I would need to pay for the x-rays (to disprove leprosy & TB) and the blood/urine tests (to disprove elephantiasis, drug addiction and syphillis)

She advised me to look for a private clinic or GP which I did. It transpires that these are all in London, can turn around the certificate in a few days but all stated that they couldn’t give me a precise quote but that it would probably “several hundred GBP”..!

Has anyone else recently resolved this problem without spending a small fortune?!?

I had one done privately, in Leeds, in August. PM me if you need more detail.

For the benefit of those planning to do something similar in their home countries, but who are currently in Thailand, get the medical certificate done at a hospital in Thailand. The Thai consulates accept that, and it is cheaper and easier.

The one time I had it done in Thailand the doctor saw I was breathing and signed the certificate.  Cost 100 baht.

Does the Thailand hospital complete the form provided by the UK consulate? Maybe a problem as in English?

I used the below form when applying for an O-A visa at Thai Embassy in London, it was filled in and  signed at a hospital in Pathum Thani a year ago.

I think I paid 360 baht for the hospital fees.

Nice one, its the same as the London consulate website

If the OP HAS to get his medical certificate in the uk then I suggest he shops around local clinics or hospitals.
Plenty of people on TVF have problems obtaining said certificate due to difficulty/high cost but then again plenty have obtained it with no problems.

I had mine done at the Bangkok Hospital in Udon. All completed in an afternoon using the same form shown above. Accepted by Thai embassy in London no probs.

This is wonderful news! I have been trying to find out if a certificate completed here would be accepted in London, as I am applying for an OA in November. So far I have tried two different GP’s and a London clinic. All insist on full range of testing and private fees (£300 ish). My Dr here charges 200 baht! (I already had two completed for teaching certificate applications in past)
