Two teens killed in motorcycle crash on ‘100-Body Way’

Two teenagers returning from a birthday party were killed when their motorcycle crashed head-on with a pickup truck on a Nakhon Phanom road notoriously known as “100-Body Way”.

Police said the accident happened at 3.20am on the That Phanom-Mukdahan road in Ban Tong village in Tambon Fungdaeng in That Phanom district.

 

The two dead were identified as Noppasorn Kulsing, 17 and Thaweeporn Majanit, 16.

 

Pickup driver Samranchai Khamoonkhun, 30, waited for police at the scene.

 

Samranchai told police he was driving to a local market to sell vegetables. He said construction materials were piled on both sides of a section of the road under construction.

 

Samranchai said he saw the motorcycle speeding up as it came from the opposite direction so he tried to slow down to avoid it but the bike crashed head-on into his pickup.

 

Friends of the two teenagers told police that the two were returning home from a birthday party.

 

Local residents said the section of the road experiences frequent accidents, and has become locally know as 100-Body Way.

Blood-alcohol level of all involved? Availability of alcoholic beverages at the party? I know, I know. As I've been told many times by Thais: Max, you think too much.

No damn wonder they have fatal accidents.  I see nothing in the article that states there were barriers with flashing warning lights warning drivers of the obstructions in the road.   I think the government should be partially at fault for some of these accidents where construction zones and maintenance areas are unmarked and at time invisible until you are too close to avoid them.

Agree patekatek if it was someone driving along that was not familiar with the road but unlike a parked truck at night these 2 I would think new the area.

Well I assume these kids were raised by some form of 'parents' somewhere...I think they should take a lot of the blame.

There are probably rules and laws in place. But, you know........ No-one cares and no enforcement.

So pass the liability along to the contractor who will undoubtedly explain the safety devices were in place, but had been moved or stolen by others. Possibily by his employees moving the one set of such devices to another project being strictly monitored by government officials. 

 

In any way my sympathies to the families.
