I've been living in Thailand for years I get my extension of stay once a year like a lot of you do as well.  I just have a question.

 

How does it work when you're living in Thailand on a non-o extension and you plan to leave Thailand for a few weeks and then come back?  Do you just get a reentry permit at the airport?  How does that work?  With a reentry permit can you just come back to Thailand on the same extension of stay as if you never left?  Do you get the reentry permit at the airport before you get on the plane the same day as your flight?  Or can you get a reentry permit at your local immigration office days in advance before you fly?  How does that process work when living in Thailand on a non-o marriage visa?  

 

My wife and I are planning a ten day trip back to the States next year so I'm just curious.  And my wife is a United States Permanent Resident so it's not an issue for her to travel back and forth from Thailand back to the States.  When we lived in Japan before I retired she used to fly back to D.C. with me from Tokyo all the time.

Yes - at the airport, or you can get it an an immigration office.  You can add one to your extension any time before your flight while the extension you wish to preserve is running. 

 

It is the same process for any permission-of-stay.

Yes - your permission-of-stay date will remain the same.
