I was severely short-sighted from 5 years old, (thanks to my dear mum's DNA!). Bottle glasses for many years, then hard contacts when I was older, then soft contacts and finally lasik surgery 25 years ago in the UK. The doctor said my eyesight was so bad that he couldn't promise perfect results. Nevertheless, he did a great job, correcting one eye 100% and less in the other eye, since he said that my eye muscles would hcange as I aged. All good, but had a retinal tear (not detachment) in my right eye about 10 years ago that disturbed my distant vision so that when driving I had double vision. Corrected with prism lens glasses, but now juggling reading glasses and distant glasses. Finally got a pair of progressive glasses online from Lokah in Shanghai. No more juggling glasses! I'll honestly say that at 67 years old my eyesight correction is not perfect (I have to look carefully when I go up/down stairs), but I'm happy with the result.
