Police officer fired over alleged link to Yingluck flight

Pol Colonel Chairit Anurit of the Metropolitan Police, who allegedly drove former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to Sa Kaew province during her flight on August 23, will be dismissed from duty.

This follows a police fact-finding committee’s ruling that the officer committed a grave disciplinary offence.

The police colonel had also committed a lesser breach of the code of conduct for illegal use of a vehicle, the committee ruled.

Pol Maj-General Charnthep Sesavej, deputy chief of the Metropolitan Police, said yesterday that he would sign a paper to dismiss the officer first, then a disciplinary committee would be set up to determine his exact penalties.

about time they started to fire all these criminal police elements, hopefully he will get jail time and have all his assets seized but they need to do it to all of the corrupt ones. Would definitely stop a lot of the crap as well as show the people that they mean business and that they are not a protected species

Would deserve to be jailed and only be released when Yingluck is captured.

A good punishment for any to be future accomplice.

What is the exact reason for his dismissal? AFAIK it was not illegal to drive Yinluck around in Thailand.  They can't even proof that she was in the car. Another shining example of Thai injustice.

dismissed from duty

Not that he would care much. He's probably received a nice fat cashier's check equivalent to 20 years of a police colonel's measly monthly salaries.

Rumour has it, the cocky colonel has already accepted the long-vacant post of Minister for Internal Affairs and Human Security. Meanwhile everyone thinks the poor guy's got his cummupence for doing what his bosses wanted . . . what a bunch of junta Judases - and the real sweetener is that they'll think this little announcement is making them look good. They are just so far off the boil, this shower.

Well, if they can lie, so can I!

PS Their synchronised pointing is pretty good, though; I'll give 'em that. And that dude's pretty brave, wearing a Klopp shirt, after Sunday's rout at WH Lane

If they fired all the criminals in the Police Force there would be no Police Force.  They are all at it one way or another from top to bottom.    Ask most little Thai boys want they want to be when they grow up and they will tell you they want to be a Policeman.  Ask them why they want to be a Policeman and they will tell you that Policemen get rich and don't have to work very hard !

Then he should serve alongside the junta leader and his lackeys who agreed to let her slip away, right?

Dismissed ??!!.....what happened ?....no more "inactive" posts left to get transferred ?!!!.....

Are things really starting to change and will the RTP finally start to dismiss the corrupt cops, from the bottom most street level to the top in the chain of command ?!!!!!

Many tourists and expats are getting fed up in being regularly racketed for "tea money" on various fallacious fantasies by the cops or the immigration chaps....

Tea Money, I wish some on here would use the correct description Its Extortion or at least Corruption and then the rest of the world would understand what they are trying to say and also know why the bib are so untrustworthy.

Tea Money is for buying the worlds no1 drink, PG Tips maybe, not steeling people hard earned cash.

Dismissed for committing a grave disciplinary offence- getting found out and putting egg of the face of the RTP. :post-4641-1156693976:

A fact finding committee that hasn't fully ascertained all the facts :clap2:

Looking at the pointing he used false number plates,  should be arrested and prosecuted.

About time some of the BIB top brass did some porridge just to let them know they are not above the law.

So he changed the license plates because he knew it was illegal to use the vehicle to go to where he did.....boo....hoo, Thai cops have done far worse than this and have been transferred to other posts, or demoted, this guy got shafted. After all, they have to make an example of anyone that supports her. The Junta is nothing short of an extension of the yellow shirt elitist movement keeping the majority of Thai's in poverty, exactly where they want them, but let's not go there, as I haven't had breakfast yet.

This all may still just be theater.  Can you fire somebody for allegedly doing something ?  Is there any evidence that shows Yingluck in the car that went to border where she crossed undetected ?  They got nothing other than fake license plates, which could have been destined as decor for a wall in a fancy drinking establishment somewhere.

Nothing more than a simple scapegoat sacrificial lamb,..... yaaaaaawn:coffee1: next please

He's a scapegoat who will be well rewarded over years for services above and beyond the 'Serve and Protect' false motto of the BIB.

Just super secret reports that are for the brave juntas eyes only.

Unfortunately this dismissal has nothing to do with corruption and everything to do with making the Government lose face, a much more serious offence!

Good post, but you should take the trouble to find out where the Spuds are playing their home games this season.

Ouch, that's a bit harsh . . . and it was for such a good cause . . .

But it is illegal to have false registration plates whilst driving around.

Another example of slagging off Thai justice system without reading all the facts.

Good cause - what the bank balance cause?

Compared to other regular "Ethic misconduct " Thai Police Officers committing every day using false license plates seems to be a minor offense.  It sounds more like your regular slagging of Thaksin and Yinluck. And concerning the reading: till now no  criminal charges laid so no judge involved.
