Forwarding a Suitcase Domestically thru Thailand Post (Suvarnabhumi)

Featured Replies

I'll be returning to Thailand next month. Before going home to CM I want to fly directly from Suvarnabhumi to Phuket  but don't want to lug along my 25-kilo suitcase with me. As I will be staying there for only a short time I intend to take only my backpack and computer bag with me.

Has anybody ever posted a suitcase from the Post Office at Suvarnabhumi as a domestic parcel?

You couldn't do it as a parcel. The maximum weight of Thailand Post's domestic parcel service is 20kg. If you can keep the weight under 20kg, then you would need to wrap the suitcase in heavy, white plastic, tape it up, place address labels in the proper position and then tie string around it sturdy enough that they can lift the suitcase by the string. The outer surface needs to be continuous and smooth with nothing that can snag or catch.

You can ship basically anything logis post however. That is their special service that takes all kinds of oversize and odd items. People ship motorcycles and refrigerators through it, so a suitcase should be no issue. Normally you need to crate the item though, so I am not sure what the packing restrictions would be on a suitcase.  I would stop by your local post office and ask them. All post offices have the same requirements. The Post Office at Suvarnabhumi is not special.

In case the OP does decide to keep the bag weight to under 20KG and send as a parcel, there is a plastic wrap service at the entrance of Departures Door-4, I believe B100 per item.  I do not know if they provide cord but I believe the PO does have a dispenser of that twisted plastic cord.

Why don't you leave your bag at the airport. There is a storage facility on the ground floor right up past arrivals on your right if your looking at arrivals. I did a couple of years back. You advise them the date of return and they have it waiting for you. Great service for about 50 baht a day.

Because he can easily fly non-stop Phuket to Chiang Mai.

It does not seem that Logis Post is available at the Suvarnabhumi Post office:

He could ship the contents of his suitcase in one or two standard red & white Thai Parcel boxes and carry the nearly empty suitcase with him to Phuket and then to CNX.

Yes, that's right. I don't I tend to return to Suvarnabhumi but fly home directly from Phuket.

Any friends in Bangkok that can pick up your suitcase at the airport, take it to Morchit and send it to another friend in Chiang Mai on the bus?

Otherwise Nim Express is a good local freighter/parcel service.
