I will be traveling outside Thailand later this year.

 

My flight is early morning 07.40 hrs and I will require a re-entry permit.

 

What time does the office open at DM airport or is safer to secure the permit from immigration?

The re-entry permit desk is open 24 hours a day at Don Mueang.

It is located just after the departure immigration desks.

I went to the local immigration office and got a stamp a couple of days prior to leaving.  Just one less thing to do at the airport. Ymmv

No. You apply in the same office that handles overstays. You must be checked in and have just been stamped out of Thailand first.

the office for obtaining a re entry permit is AFTER u get stamped out by immigration.

I have a Retirement extension - what is required to obtain a multi re-entry permit at DM International airport?

• Completed TM8 form (you can do it at the airport)
• Photo
• 3,800 baht

As I recall, they do required copies of passport data page and extension stamp for you.
