Just picked up my SETV from the Seoul Consulate.

 

Fairly simple process as they don't do many tourist visa applications. This was my 4th SETV in this passport.

 

Waited around 15 minutes in the queue. Dropped off the form along with a hotel booking and onward flight (I had these but not sure they really cared) on Monday, picked up my passport on Wednesday morning. Cost was 40,000 won ($35).

 

So yeah, if anyone's in South Korea needing an SETV - you've got a decent consulate there

South Koreans can travel visa exempt to Thailand and get a 90 day admission to stay.

Better than a single entry tourist visa.

For  anybody who might care about  the  procedure in Taipei, Taiwan:

1/go to a very crowded Thai  office between 9 and 11:30 am

2/hand in: the form (with one photo), your passport, copies of the important passport pages, copies of the airline ticket booking (they never asked for a hotel booking, though I filled in the hotel address on the application form)

3/pay 1,200 New Taiwan dollars = a bit more than 1,200 baht

4/pick up your tourist visa the same day between 4 and 5 pm

Walking back up that hill outside to get to the main road with all the cafes etc is a killer though.

last few reports of people trying to get a SETV in Taipei resulted in denial.

- what's your nationality?

From memory I don't think you get many taxis passing through that area so it might be worthwhile getting a taxi to wait for you or come back to pick you up. As I posted before it's a long steep walk back up the hill to find a place to sit down for coffee or whatever.
