Thai Royalist Group Demands BBC Shut Down

BANGKOK — A small number of protesters gathered Thursday in front of the British Embassy in Bangkok to demand the BBC be taken off the air following a recent report relating to King Bhumibol.

 

In a video published Oct. 27, reporter Jonathan Head quizzed royal descendant Narisa Chakrabongse about whether she believed the affection Thai people felt for the late king, who was cremated in a spectacular rite last week, was genuine. Although the interviewee replied that she did, the question enraged hardline royalists on social media, leading to yesterday’s protest.
