Thailand hopes to become new stop for luxury cruises

Featured Replies

No one has said otherwise but they might even be Chinese cruise ships which would be like the arrival of the equivalent of 100 Chinese tour buses all at once. Perish the thought.

All of them with deep pockets and not even buying a banana from the locals. Pushing and shoving their way around while spitting everywhere and blowing cigarette smoke over everyone and washing their feet in the handbasins. Poking people in the eyes with their selfie sticks and sun umbrellas. The mind boggles.

Thailand: Keep on dreaming !!!

Visitors coming with a cruise will have their drinks, dinner and their bed on board, because it is included. In the max. 12 hour stop-over they will never ever spend the same amount what a normal tourist does !!! They will only buy some souvenirs, nothing more...

Keep on dreaming !!!

Hmmm. There's another thread running where an MP is stating that Thailand is unable to attract cruise ships due to the lack of English speakers.

Have they overcome this problem already? In a few hours? Amazing Thailand!

Here we go again, high hopes, big talks and all BS expectations.

TAT will no doubt be able to count everyone on those ships as a visitor, even if they stayed on board, so the good news is the tourist figures will top last years figures by millions. But the shops, cafe's and restaurants will see a decline in the cash in the till. Its a make it up as we go along society.
