January 12, 200719 yr I'm a US citizen working in Sales and Marketing. My employer is willing to post me somewhere in Asia in order to care for existing clients and help attract new ones. They are partial to HK but fine with any city in the region so long as its offers easy connections to major cities. (I travel frequently.) My preference is for Bangkok for a lot of reasons including that I'm engaged to a Thai national. I travel to clients, so there is no need for any type of office other than a home one. I do travel with bulky computer equipment that would frequently have to follow me through Thai airport customs. Naturally, my employer would like to proceed with the least onerous course possible. Their preference would be to simply continue paying me through my US bank account and to let me live where I choose. I suspect though it's not going to be that simple given that I'll be frequently be entering and leaving the country with kit in tow. Any advice on the simplest legal option I can present to them? Many Thanks in Advance, ShakinItUp Edited January 12, 200719 yr by ShakinItUp
January 12, 200719 yr Make sure you get enough pages in your passport, and singapore airlines is the best airline u can take, as for legalities I dont see your point, can you be more specific? your post seems to be understandable though alluring.
January 12, 200719 yr Contact your nearest US embassy and explain the situation to them. Say you need to be in the region for at leat 12 month travelling in and out constantly and visiting clients and attracting new business. Don't specifically say you will be working from Thailand as I think a work visa would be difficult to get unless you are setting up a Thai company. You should be able to get a 12 month non-imm B to udertake business in Thailand (though not actually work there) though you might need to show letters from clients inviting you, certainly details of your company and its business in thailand among other things.
January 12, 200719 yr I assume you are talking about a Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate rather than "the nearest US Embassy"?
