maybe local elections at best

Keep on hoping, Japan.

Without outside pressure and belittling from the Thai and world wide press, the junta will never leave.  The Japanese are doing the average Thai a great service.

Yes we can only hope and pray, that the mob who are attempting to ruin the country now will be gone.

Well, I hope to win the lottery next year. I think the odds are about the same.

Although I could improve my odds if I actually bought a ticket I suppose.

Oh, there will be elections next year - just with the NCPO as the only party on the ballot paper

Well, puppet regimes like Japan or Australia just express what they've been told to express, as such why bother listening to them, go to the real source.

That aside, a military junta is generally not an ideal form of government, up there with theocracies. However neither is an Oligarchy, a form that exists in many western countries, nor a Fascist Bureaucracy under which the EU suffers.

Democracies are preferred if you can get a real one, as opposed to one that that is just run by the rich for the rich with the illusion of choice. Now which of Thailand's former governments has been ideal?

agree .....   democracy is nothing more than a smoke screen .....   Australia, UK, and US are full of cheating liars in government, look at CEO's in big corporate companies like ANZ, Westpac & CBA ...  nothing but thiefs as are politicians.

I imagine that depends on whether or not that nice Mr Prayuth thinks he is guaranteed a  win. If not then there will be plenty of reasons to delay it. A death in the family? More flooding? Date not auspicious? Political parties not having campaigning time (my odds-on bet). Who knows? the international community may even believe some of them.

Japs always have  a sense of humor dont they ?

Did they mean erection?

They will be lucky! Most of Thais also would like to see an election but the stranglehold the military now has on the country, it is unlikely. They are more interested in building up their 'Toy Collection', rather than helping the population. If they only kept the money in the country, rather than paying the Chinese vast amounts for unnecessary goods, Thailand would be so much better of.

Why?  What's in it for the Kon Yiipun?
