How maxed out can my Thai visas be in a year?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Currently I have 1 exemption,  a short break followed by two back to back tourist visas (the first gained in Phnom Penh, the next in Savannakhet), and a non-b directly after (Savannakhet) for teaching that will run out 3rd december.  I will be returning to enter a monastery after 3rd december.  My preference is to go to Vientiane by land over the crossing near Udon Thani, to see the place and celebrate a birthday.  My initial thought was to get a visa exemption, as 2 of these are permitted, and it might be staying within the letter of the regulations, but if possible a tourist visa would suit my monastic aspirations better.  Any thoughts.  UK national.

Thanks

As a uk national flying in from a variety of locations I managed many back to back tvs over a 2 yr period which ended earlier this year. Maxed it to the max

If in Vientiane 3-4 December, get a tourist visa while there. This is easy, except that it will be extremely busy. Bear in mind that the consulate will be closed December 5.

The problem with VE entries, is that if you go out of the country touring, then come back again within the 30 days, a new VE entry has to be granted and it looks as if you are making far more entries/exits on 1 visit than you really are.  How do they count or tally these up?  One frlend who knows an Insider IO, said that it is completely hit and miss - depends which side of the bed they got out of that morning, whether they had a row with the wife, g/f, mia noi or whatever!

They will also be closed 3 December.

<deleted incorrect information>

The consulate is also closed on the 4th (Lao National Day)
