Prime Minister Hun Sen is to ask King Norodom Sihamoni to appoint General Electric’s vice chairman John Rice as an advisor to the government. The announcement was made during a meeting between Mr Hun Sen and Mr Rice at the Peace Palace yesterday.

After the meeting, Kao Kim Huon, minister attached to the Prime Minister, said Mr Hun Sen asked Mr Rice to be a government advisor after he retires from GE at the end of the year. Mr Rice has served at GE for 39 years and was appointed president and CEO of GE’s global growth and operations in 2011.

GE is one of the leading companies in the world and has been in Cambodia since 2007. “Mr Hun Sen said he has a lot of experience and loves Cambodia, so he asked him to be an advisor to the government,” Mr Kim Huon said, adding that Mr Rice agreed and is happy to work with government in order to develop the country.
