Three men were killed in a traffic accident on Phnom Penh’s Preah Sihanouk Boulevard yesterday. Deputy traffic police chief Sem Kunthea said the three died at the scene. One of the victims was Cambodian, the other two Europeans, from Sweden and Germany.

The accident happened when the two European men’s bike hit an SUV. The Cambodian man was a pedestrian passer-by, Pou Sok, 60. His body was given to his family for a funeral to be held.

The two men were not wearing helmets, a fact highlighted by Mr Kunthea, who insisted on the importance of wearing protective gear when driving a motorcycle in the city. Their bodies were taken to Stung Meanchey pagoda until their families can be reached by their respective embassies.
