Jomsap Saenmuangkhot

Former teacher Jomsap Saenmuangkhot will remain in detention as the Nakhon Phanom Court on Monday refused to approve her release on bail on the grounds that she might tamper with witnesses and evidence in her high-profile case that has attracted public attention.

Jomsap, who was previously convicted of a fatal hit-and-run crash, is accused of perjury allegedly committed to clear her of the original crime.

Her relatives had offered Bt200,000 as collateral for bail, while she claimed she feared for her safety while being detained.

The 54-year-old convict was brought to court by police who applied for her first 12-day detention order on charges including perjury over an alleged plot to hire a man to take responsibility for the crash in a failed attempt to win a retrial in the case.

It is just going from bad to worse for this lady. Given the forensic evidence shows her car hadn't been involved with an accident in the first place, this has come as a result of poor judgment on her behalf in trying to clear her name, but an abject failure by what passes for Thai justice at the same time.

There is plenty of evidence against her too. Car that was supposed to have been in the accident was destroyed(suspicious) and the papers too. The car was not even owned by the scapegoat but by an other at the time.

So in this case i really dont believe her.

Also people supposed to testify for her never show up, change their stories ect.

She did want to clear her name to get her job back and its benefits plus a big compensation.

People are now admitting they lied themselves to help her. Forensic evidence of not being in an accident.. it was according to what i read not a hard collision. So it might not have shown up so long after the crash. Its not like the examination was done after the accident but many years later.

Anyway that is what i read.

Difficult to decide who to believe - given the credibility of Thai justice. Not only in spectacular cases like the Koh Tao murders where it seems scapegoats are sentenced to death while the likely killers are scot free.
