The Livestock Department has imposed an import ban on cattle and goats as well as their meat from Myanmar after it was confirmed that a man who was admitted to the Mae Sot district hospital in Tak province for medical treatment after eating goat meat was confirmed to be infected with anthrax.

Deputy director of Mae Sot hospital, Dr Somyos Krintharathan, said that of the three patients admitted into the hospital under suspicion that they were infected with anthrax, only one of them was confirmed to be infected.
