Jakkapop Penkae and the former deputy commander of the 3rd Army Region, Lt Gen Manas Paorik, are among five suspects accused of being linked to a large cache of military weapons reportedly found in Chachoengsao’s Bang Nam Priao district last week.

A source at the Royal Thai Police revealed yesterday that Col Burin Thongprapai, a legal officer at the Supreme Command and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), filed a complaint with the Crime Suppression Division on December 1 against Jakkapop, Manas and three others – Wattana Sapwichian, Chaiwat Polpho and Somjet Khongwattana.

The five are accused of racketeering and possession of war weapons, the source said. The weapons found in Bang Nam Priao were supplied by the five suspects to others to create chaos during the 2014 protests.

Police are due to apply for the five arrest warrants on Wednesday.

The first admission of discontent within the military. Game changer. If the junta is foolish enough to delay election, things may turn on his head. Not what the big guy want so soon after his ascension. He may step in.

Oh come on Peter Pan did it or maybe Mickey Mouse or Jackanory, Or probably the man who likes holding on to power at any lie

I wonder which poor, unfortunate scapegoats they're gonna stich up for this. I assume they already decided who they were gonna arrest before they planted the weapons? Or is that too much forward planning?

I think it was Santa Claus - 'tis the season, you know.

Surprise that the junta didn’t link this to Thaksin. Have they gone soft?
