How to complete process fo being on son's visa from Japan???

Featured Replies

HI, our friend is here from Japan and will enrol the son, 5 yrs old, in and international school. It is understand that the mother can then become a dependent on the son's visa as well as his sister who is under 2 yrs. My question is can the complete process be done at one time or must the son's visa status first be established then add the others on? What is the process for the mother to complete her portion of the paper work to be a dependent of the son? I am not sure but heard the 400,000baht in the bank account also applies for such visa? I appreciate your feedback and of course look for Ubonjoe's expert opinion.

Thank you

A parent of a foreign child attending school can apply for an extension of stay based upon being their parent at immigration. The child must be on extension of stay for attending school (aka non-ed) in order for them to apply for it.

The parent must have a non-o visa entry from a embassy or consulate to apply for the extension. They will need 500k baht in a Thai bank for 30 days for the first extension application and the 90 days after that.

The 2 year old will not be able to get an extension based upon the mothers extension.
