webfact
Female Erawan Shrine bombing suspect to be released on bail By Jitraporn Senwong The Nation The Bangkok Military Court has granted release on bail to Wanna Suansan, the only female suspect in the deadly Erawan Shrine bomb attack in 2015, after her relatives posted assets worth Bt1 million as collateral on Wednesday. She was to be freed at 4pm. The court also set conditions that Wanna is not allowed to travel outside the country and is forbidden from tampering with witnesses or evidence in the case. She also has to report to probation officials on appointed dates, her lawyer said. The pregnant 29-year-old Phang Nga native, who returned to Thailand on November 22 with her two young children, was taken into court-ordered detention a day after her arrival. She is charged with many counts in connection with the blast that struck the world-famous Erawan Shrine in the heart of Bangkok on August 17, 2015, which killed 20 people and injured many more. She allegedly rented rooms for suspected bombers Adem Karadag and Yusufu Mierali, who were friends of her Turkish husband Emrah Davutoglu. Karadag and Mierali have been held at a special detention facility at the 11th Army Circle headquarters pending court interviews of 100 prosecution witnesses. Wanna had been living under house arrest in Turkey with Davutoglu, who is also a suspect in the case, for the past few years. ChrisY1
I seriously doubt that any bomber arrested for being partly responsible for so many deaths, would never, ever be released on bail anywhere else....but here is Thailand, murderers sent to death row have been released on bail.....while geriatric mushroom pickers are sent to gaol. Crazy place so often!

She has two children and is pregnant with a third. As far as I can see there is no real evidence to link her with the bombs. Why should she not have bail? Maybe this is the first step in the authorities backing off?Sent from my KENNY using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Maximum fine Bt5,000. 17 hours ago, webfact said: Karadag and Mierali have been held at a special detention facility at the 11th Army Circle headquarters pending court interviews of 100 prosecution witnesses. Arrested more than two years ago, being held at a military facility and no charges. And still 100 prosecution witnesses to be interviewed? How many witnesses for the defendants are being interviewed? Is the military even trying to build a case as to their quilt sans a confession? It seems that the military can't trust the accused to be held and tried in Thailand's civilian judicial system for the Shrine bombing. Hence, military detention and military trial. Otherwise, there's the DANGER that the accused might get fair treatment under the law and conviction to lesser crimes in a civilian criminal court. speckio
1million baht = $30,000 i have a feeling she is going to make a run for it... seriously losing $30,000 is a small price to pay when you are probably facing execution or life in a thai prison!. Or perhaps she is innocent, the evidence against her could be at-best sketchy, and she isn't a terrorist ? In which case releasing her on bail, ordered not to leave the country, would be entirely reasonable, would it not ?
