Finally moved - TM.28 Questions

Featured Replies

Okay, so after 8 years I have finally moved into a different house and now I have three questions regarding the TM.28 form.

1) There's a section called 'Visa', anyone know what goes on that line?

2) How long does one have after they move before submitting the TM.28 form?

3) Are there any fines associated with submitting the form late?

I. Initially visa entry to Thailand..

2. Not until you have to do 90 report or extension of stay.

3. No, but you need to donate 100 baht to your favourite cause or get bad Karma.

  1. Just put Non-Immigrant visa.
  2. Depends on the office. Under the law you're supposed to report the move within 24 hours. They go by the date you put on the form.
  3. The standard fine for reporting the move late is 2,000 baht, but they can charge up to 5,000. An extra 200 bath per day can be charged for everyday you delay paying a fine.

The office might also want a TM.30 completed by the owner of the property.

Note that at some offices (including Jomtien), they use the TM-30 form only, applying this process for the portions of the law which should apply to both the TM-28 form and TM-30 form.   Your office may vary (they all do), so you can only go by what they are asking for at the current time.

If your office does accept and/or require a TM-28 submission, I echo elviajero - a TM-30 should also be submitted at the same time to cover all your bases.

To save a lot of hassles I had the landlord come with me to the immigration office and we submitted the TM30 from the landlord and the TM28 from me at the same time and we made sure that the lease papers were dated the day before we went to save any fines

I moved province, went to IO armed with a TM30 and a TM28, she dismissed the TM28 telling me to bring it back on 90 day report, which I did only to have it dismissed again.

According to UJ a lot of IO’s are favouring the TM30 only.

This was Ayutthaya, if you tell us which Immigration Office maybe someone will have more specific information.

Chang Wattana earlier this month was renewing extension based on retirement. Have been living in both BKK and Pattaya, but official address was Pattaya and that is where previous extensions had been done. Earlier this year, vacated Pattaya and moved full time to BKK.

When did the change of address here in BKK,  the same day as retirement extension, was fined B2000 for what I believe was late reporting of TM28. Didn't care, as accepted this was a possibility and took the chance of waiting and doing all at the same time. Just glad to have it done now for another year! :coffee1:
