January 16, 200719 yr Hi, If I was in the UK, I'd have to get my UK form-E (Divorce Financial Declaration) witnessed by my lawyer. As I'm in Thailand can anybody advise me who would do this for me ? My UK lawyer does not know Thanks!
January 16, 200719 yr I got a UK divorce afew years ago and had documents witnessed at the UK embassy for an exhorbitant fee. Just go to the consular section with the papers and they will take care of it for you.
January 16, 200719 yr Definitely, embassy. Call and make an appointment. Ask what you need to bring for ID and the cost. Ensure you have all the necessary papers with you and your passport. Then make a couple of copies, just in case...
January 16, 200719 yr See if you can find a British lawyer living in Thailand? I am sure there will be one somewhere
January 16, 200719 yr I was told by my UK lawyer that only the UK embassy can do the job. You need a notary public - not just any lawyer. Check for thre Notary services opening hours on the British Embassy website.
January 16, 200719 yr Faced with the same situation as you just over a year ago, I took a 5 baht coin, inked it, stamped the form E with this coin and scribbled an intelligible signature across it and sent it back to my ex-wife's lawyer in the UK. It was accepted without question . . . the divorce court awarded her about 130% of my assets and I'm now living happily in Thailand and selling somtam in Suk soi 4 . . . Simon
January 16, 200719 yr Author Thanks all. After calling the embassy it sounds all too simple - she said just turn up with 2650 baht and the papers to be signed and my passport. If that fails I'll try Simons suggestion. Cheers.
