The national crackdown on gangs running illegal call center operations has yielded another 23 arrests.

All those nabbed at a four story property in Sadao, Songkhla and a nearby house were Chinese nationals who had been hired by a Malaysian ringleader.

They represent about half of a local gang, said Daily News quoting police sources.

The arrests were announced by national police chief Jakthip Chaijinda and deputy commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau Surachet Hakpal who have been tasked by the government with cracking the scourge of call centers in the kingdom.

Daily News said that the fraud carried out by this gang was perpetrated on Chinese people living abroad and involved tens of millions of baht.

More quality-tourists for the plane homewards ? :whistling:

And every high-ranking Keystone cop and his dog showed up. Haven't they got something else they could be doing? Like taking their hands out of their pockets......

seems that the Malaysian ringleader didn't realize that to operate fraudulent call centre scams here you need to be paying the police. should have taken some advice from the western boiler room guys before setting up

Must be getting harder for Chinese nationals to get credit lines from their Chinese banks...

Its going to cost them more to get to thailand with zero baht tours asset's being seized

What is it with Thailand and call centers? one can only think its the hub of corruption as far as the call center owners are concerned, now even the Chinese are doing it must be some seriously dump people about to even accept a call from one of these places

But how do you know, where a phone-call originates, when it rings & you pick it up ?

There must be something, I won't speculate as to what, about the climate for doing-business in Thailand, which seems particularly attractive to these shysters ?

So when are the farangs who operate call centre scams AKA boiler rooms going to get what's coming to them, or do they know how to play the system and are untouchable?

Great! Packém up and throwém out.

We get calls from Africa claiming to be from Microsoft, IT , scam central  and not in

Thailand.
