Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has promised rubber farmers that more remedy measures will be rolled out to help them.

Speaking after chairing the Natural Rubber Policy Committee meeting on Friday (Dec 15), the prime minister said the committee approved several measures to resolve falling rubber prices, and they would be tabled for cabinet approval next week.

But the Prime Minister said rubber farmers should not anticipate instant price change from the remedy measures.

A smaller rice scheme or vote buying? You decide. :stoner:

The price of rubber has been down the toilet since he seized power in the coup.

I wonder why he's announced help now?

Any connection with his promised upcoming election?

PM vows to help rubber farmers, he is going to start buying condoms, so as to increase the use of rubber.:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

Every tourist gets a latex memory foam pillow at the airport as they leave.

Prayut recently approved a plan to pay rice farmers to not plant second-crop rice next year.

Might decide the same for rubber farmers to limit rubber harvests?

The problem though is that any effort to reduce supply of rubber into the global rubber market might be offset by rubber growers in Indonesia and Malaysia. Previous efforts to coordinate market supply with Malaysia and Indonesia have largely failed.

Whatever strategy Prayut decides must be long-term and broad-based - very unlike his agricultural policies since taking control of the government in 2014.
