By The Nation

Charity run hero Artiwara “Toon” Kongmalai took a rest on Saturday and was given intravenous fluid after he appeared dehydrated following a run under scorching sun on Friday.

On Saturday, Day 46 of his 2,191-km Betong-Mae Sai campaign, Toon and his group rested at the Suan Sin Hotel in Tambon Nam Ruem in Tak’s Muang district.

Toon’s medical team provided him intravenous fluid therapy to rehydrate him after he ran in 40-degrees Celsius heat on Friday.

On Friday, Toon ran from the First Tak Highway office in Tambon Pa Mamuang in Muang district to Ban Mor Diew villlage in Tambon Mai Ngam in Muang district. He and his team then paid respects to the King Taksin statue.

At a ceremony at the statue, Toon received donations of Bt1.999 million from the Tak governor, Bt1.752 million from the Sukhothai governor and Bt2.525 million from a deputy Phitsanulok governor. The three provinces had earlier raised donations for the charity campaign.

According to the KaoKonLaKao.com, Toon has so far run on 35 of 46 days, covering 1,752.5 kilometres. His campaign has so far generated donations for 11 hospitals of Bt844.587 million.
