BANGKOK, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Thailand has provided financial aid for Cambodia's project to open a vocational training and rehabilitation center for drug addicts, Thai media reported on Sunday

Thailand's Deputy Premier and Justice Minister Prajin Juntong visited Phnom Penh on Dec. 15 to hand over a sum of 38 million baht (about 1.1 million U.S. dollars) in grant aid provided by the Thai government to Cambodia's National Authority for Combating Drugs to fund the construction of a National Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Center in Sihanoukville province.

Kao Kondara, acting director of the National Authority for Combating Drugs, accepted the Thai aid for the construction of the Cambodian center which is scheduled to be completed next year so that it will begin to treat, rehabilitate and train some 1,000 drug addicts at a time.

Such financial aid was requested by the Cambodian side during a Thai and Cambodian Joint Cabinet Retreat in Phnom Penh in September this year.
