Deputy prime ministers Prawit Wongsuwon and Somkid Jatusripitak have denied a report that the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) may set up a nominee party to push for Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha to be prime minister after the next general election.

Their denial came on Monday (Dec 18) after Vachara Phetthong, a former Democrat Party MP, said that the NCPO would set up a nominee party in the name of Pracharat, with Mr Somkid as the leader.

Mr Vachara made this remarks amid speculations that the nominee party, with support from the NCPO, would push Gen Prayut for the prime minister’s post after the general election.

What a pity.I am sure most Thais would be eager to nail their colours to the NCPO flag at an election with added exciting incentive that in doing so the current Prime Minister might in Margaret Thatcher';s phrase "go on and on".

I really hope the military party will be set up so we can see them being savaged on election day. The junta still living in a bubble thinking that they have popular support from the Bangkok middle class. They have overstayed their welcome and their dirty deeds are daily deluge and the middle class Bangkokians are badly affected by the economics and the reform let-downs. They may still salvage an iota of good image if they sack Prawit and Prayut hand the premiership to an interim civilian prime minister and announced an election date. Failing this, history will not be kind to Prayut and his coup.

If they do, who would vote for an habitual watch flaunter?  l don't know though, they have voted in others who flaunted their wealth.
