I think a funny thing that often happens when falong move to Thailand and decide that they want to study Thai language is that they pick a female teacher. This always cracks me up.. Most dont realize that Thai is a language of five tones, you have to sing the sentences to be clear on what your trying to say. When men learn to speak Thai from a women, in trying to mirror the tone that she is saying they also tend to raise their voice, and the result. Thai people thinking that most falong are gay.

If you want to study Thai, pick a man that you would want to mirror. If you have intentions of involving yourself in business here, then pick a Thai business man and study from him. If you want to come across like a gay man that grew up in eason, than learn your vocabulary from a bar girl.
