Nong Preu station chief Pol Col Jirawut Tanthasiri has defended the police investigation into the murder of a 17 year old woman.

Nong Froid was found battered to death at accommodation in the area of the Million Year Stone Park and Crocodile Farm.

She had been smashed in the face with a sledgehammer. She was found with her feet bound.

The elder brother of the victim's boyfriend has been charged with her murder. Natthaphon, 18, claimed that he thought she was an intruder and it was dark.

Sanook gave no indication how he might have explained away the binding of the victim's feet.

Jirawut said that the victim's boyfriend and the girlfriend of the suspect were not involved in the murder. However, all three tested positive for drugs.

"Heart" and "A" aged 16 and 15 respectively were released, said Jirawut, as there was a lack of evidence and they are juveniles.

Relatives of the murder suspect have alleged that the cops are showing favor but Jirawut said that the case was being handled properly and the relatives did not understand the law as it related to juveniles.

He promised justice in the case.

Police has to read this:

6. Juvenile Justice System

Thai law limits children’s criminal responsibility by their age. Children under 7 years old are not liable to criminal punishment. Those between 7 and 14 are not liable to any punishment either, but the law gives the court the option to use juvenile procedures, depending on the children’s behaviour and environment and other mitigating circumstances, thereby giving the children an opportunity to turn over a new leaf rather than punishing them severely as a deterrent. Above that age (15 years and older), youths may have to face criminal punishment, but the court may use its discretion to reduce the sentence.

If you brutally murder a person as them they are old enough to face punishment

Probably battered her when she would not have sex with his small whitened penis !

More upstanding youth. Taught well by loving families

"He promised justice in the case." Feet bound - hardly an intruder as claimed.

Would TV/The Nation follow up on this one to see what will happen regarding her 'murder'?

And releasing the 15 and 16 year olds? If nothing else, why were they not arrested for drug use? Or, perhaps being accessories to the murder?

RIP young lady.

No amount of wais or money or wearing orange robes will bring you back to those who loved you.

Aren't we all?  There is no incentive for Pattaya police to pursue this beyond the cursory stage.  Now had it been a rich drugged-up farang who could not explain how the intruder came to have her ankles tied, no stone would be left unturned.
