BANGKOK, 12 January 2018 (NNT) – Thailand’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report is expected to be considered by the Prime Minister next week before its submission to the United States by the end of this month.

Social Development and Human Security Minister Gen Anantaporn Kanjanarat disclosed that the conclusion of the TIP Report was on the agenda of the latest meeting of the committee on the prevention and suppression of human trafficking.

He said improvements will be made to the document by this Sunday based on various suggestions and observations by committee members and related agencies so as to produce a final draft containing both Thai and English languages to be presented to the Prime Minister on Monday and forwarded to the US by January 31.

Gen Anantaporn expressed confidence that the current version of the TIP Report, which has been rewritten from the last version, is the most comprehensive one yet. Focus is being placed on the prevention of human trafficking, prosecution of perpetrators, protection and rehabilitation of victims and punishment of state officials involved in the crime.

The report also underscores efforts by police, prosecutors and judges to accelerate human trafficking cases and offers a comparison between the numbers of cases being processed in 2016 and 2017. It is hoped that, with this report, the US will gain a sound understanding of Thailand’s commitment to addressing the issue of human trafficking.

originating in the land of half-truths, combined with thailand's very weak track records on both self-regulation and self-reporting,  US should take a very skeptical view;

god help them if this is their only source

Meanwhile, there are some 400 kids missing....many aged 13-15 years old......how many of these poor kids have been "sold"?

I wonder if the report will include:

The government has refused to grant the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) unhindered access to screen all Rohingya arriving in Thailand, and permit them to identify and assist those seeking refugee status.

The government has used detention as a punitive measure or as a means of discouraging refugees from applying for asylum in violation of UNHCR guidelines.

But I suspect that the Trump administration will not feel too sympathetic towards nonwhite impoverished immigrants. Especially if they're from "sh*thole countries." https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-attacks-protections-for-immigrants-from-shithole-countries-in-oval-office-meeting/2018/01/11/bfc0725c-f711-11e7-91af-31ac729add94_story.html?utm_term=.5b493a15035f
