Unfancied Tinn Isriyanet and Kittisak Namdash created the biggest upset in their badminton career as they stunned 2016 Olympic Games silver medalists Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong of Malaysia 21-15 22-20 for their first World Grand Prix Gold final in the Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters at Nimibutr National Stadium on Saturday.

The local pair, never before playing in a semi-final stage of a big international event, showed no intimidation against the high-profiled opponents as they saved a couple of game points at 19-20 to win the match in 35 minutes.

“I feel excellent. I didn’t expect to win,” said 22-year-old Tinn.

Nakhon Panom based Kittisak said: “I just hoped to play my best out there. I’m so overwhelmed.”

The pair will play Wahyu Pangkaryanira and Ade Yusuf Santoso of Indonesia who beat  Berry Angriawan and Hardianto Hardianto 21-17 21-17 in the all Indonesian semi-final clash.

“I’m sure that I can control myself (even it’s my first final). I will try not to think about the results,” Tinn said.

“I’m not sure we can win but I’m ready to go out there and give my all,” Kittisak said.
