January 19, 200719 yr I'd rather focus on solutions but here's the short list anyway IMO: -Clean beaches. -More public libraries. -A proper theatre. -Sex shops selling sex aids and linguerie (currently illegal?). -Better roads that don't resemble patchwork. -Portable lie detectors. (No more sick mama stories). -Greek restaurant. (Turkish comes close but I miss my tzatziki!). -More green areas (I know of 2 but out in the sun). -2nd road crossover. I know where the airport is if I ever wanted more structure elsewhere.

January 19, 200719 yr here's a few for starters: - Refurbished upholstory on the Soi 6 library chairs - a sign that says: "Never Give way (or yield) " at the Dolphin roundabout - an elevated 6 lane highway from Carrefour to Lake Mabprachan - A special internet forum for Britmaverick to make his 10 millionth post - reclaim 1 mile of beach in Central Pattaya and build 10,000 more beer bars. More later....
January 19, 200719 yr A decent central heating shop plumbers a katoey boxing club, so they can beat the sheet out of each other instead of farrangs synchronised traffic lights enforcement of the 'no t shirt no food served' laws
January 19, 200719 yr I'd rather focus on solutions but here's the short list anyway IMO:-Clean beaches. Is this ever going to happen in Pattaya? I doubt it, if anything they might become worse. I am not a big fan of beaches anyway; I prefer to lounge around a clean swimming pool with a paperback book and a beer. -More public libraries. Fair point, but I usually swap paperbacks with friends or at the second hand bookshops in Pattaya. Plus for urgent book requests, Bookazine can order titles in about three weeks, plus for hard to find titles, they can be requested from friends who holiday regularly in Thailand. -A proper theatre. Fair point, but would the productions be any good? I have to admit even when I was living in the west, I only visited theatres 2 or 3 times a year. -Sex shops selling sex aids and linguerie (currently illegal?). There are two shops on Soi Bukhaew selling erotic lingerie, you cannot miss them, one opposite Soi Chayapoon and one at the Pattaya Klang end on the corner. I doubt lingerie is illegal, there is even a erotic lingerie warehouse in Naklua that can provide leather and rubber etc. Say no more. The sex aids are available on the black market, under the counter, not hard to find if you are determined. I understand that open display and open sale is forbidden in Thailand, there was even a sex-aid shop in Royal Garden until the monks persuaded the police to close it down. It boasted huge black dildos in the window, which for some religious folk, was a bit hard to swallow. -Better roads that don't resemble patchwork. I agree 100%, whoever is on the council planning department needs to go back to college, they dig up roads here for fun. -Portable lie detectors. (No more sick mama stories). They would be useful, but some people who practise, can defeat lie-detectors. -Greek restaurant. (Turkish comes close but I miss my tzatziki!). I am sure that there is a Turkish restaurant, surely they can provide tsatziki or a mezz to your liking, a cacik is almost the same. -More green areas (I know of 2 but out in the sun). Yes, a large park, but stray dogs would ruin it. -2nd road crossover. 100% agree, I am running out of lives crossing from one side to another.

January 19, 200719 yr more honest bar owners who will sell real Gin and not that horrible cheap crap, they even pour the cheap crap into gordons bottles, which makes it hard to argue your case. A ban on women over a certain weight in bars from removing their clothes. BB

January 19, 200719 yr A stray dog free environment. Bicycle routes around the city. An address system where you could actually find a place if you know the address. A good yellow pages directory where all businesses were listed. A free public transport system, type bath bus, going up and down 2nd and beach road every 5 min, all baht busses banned in this area. A one time, permanent, fix of the walkway along beach rd.
January 19, 200719 yr A earth moving fun park Get around 3 rai a heap of earth moving gear where you can pay a fee and play for the day with real Tonka toys!
January 19, 200719 yr Author Also missing (taking the piss): More places to enjoy NHL hockey (finally a real sport for you cricket lovers...). More emphasis on customer service. Less ambiguous skin tones. More boy scout training. More cooking manuals. More effective criminal catchers for Pattaya police (OJ would approve). Edited January 19, 200719 yr by PATTAYAPUNTER
January 19, 200719 yr -2nd road crossover. Have a feeling this one is in the pipeline............not from city hall i might add. Top of Soi Yamoto opposite the Wonderful One bar there stands the old Cowboy Bar it was closed down over a year ago when someone paid 15m baht for the lease on it and it has stood empty ever since.............. .............now whats on the other side of 2nd road from it.................the new Robinson shopping complex. I might be way off the mark but i wouldnt of thought there are too many people with 15m to tie up for a year plus without starting any sort of project and it seems to be in the prime position for a bridge over 2nd road into the new complex. Just a thought anyway.

January 20, 200719 yr Common sense. Now THAT is dreaming ! (for most people, common sense is left at the airport somewhere between the Immigration counters and Customs. Many forget to retrieve their common sense when they depart. Instead of using it, airport authorities take the dumpsters full of common sense that are deposited everyday and dump it all in the nearest klong).
January 20, 200719 yr A shop selling bicycles of a size to suit a European. All I could find was one bout six inches too small in the frame, so it whips badly when I try to ride uphill.

I know where the airport is if I ever wanted more structure elsewhere. - A bypass running parallel to and around the eastern side of Sukhumvit Road beginning somewhere north of Banglamung and extending to the south of Jomtien to allieviate some of the constant traffic. The new highway 7 is a bit too far to the east to be viable to local traffic. - Permanent fix the traffic light at the CARRE-FOUR intersection. - Give Pattaya its own postal code instead of using Chonburi. It is sometimes confusing to those friends and relatives living outside of Pattaya. - Need some overpasses crossing Sukhumvit Road. It's getting more and more difficult to cross Sukhumvit or even to do a u-turn. - A park area providing public tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer fields etc. for the citizens of Pattaya to utilize. Why should residents of Pattaya have to go to one of the major hotels and pay by the hour to play tennis? - I agree that a real beach should be built if reclaiming the land is a viable possibility. I'm sure more things will come to me right after I post this reply. Pattaya Dave
January 20, 200719 yr - A bypass running parallel to and around the eastern side of Sukhumvit Road beginning somewhere north of Banglamung and extending to the south of Jomtien to allieviate some of the constant traffic. The new highway 7 is a bit too far to the east to be viable to local traffic.Pattaya Dave Well Dave, One of your wishes is coming true. If I understand your suggestion correctly, they are currently constucting such a bypass which starts North of Pattaya, where the highway 7 splits to go to Pattaya and Rayong, then runs parallel with the railway line and ends somewhere in Jomtien. I should say it's about 30% cxomplete right now, and when finished will enable motorists to bipass Sukhumvit Road from Na Klua, to South Pattaya. How about that?
January 20, 200719 yr I'm sure I'm seconding suggestions from others, nevertheless, here's my short list: 1) A real New York style Jewish deli (with rye bread, corned beef, bagels and pickles on the tables) Think "Brents" in Los Angeles. 2) Bike paths that are FAR removed from idiotic drivers. 3) A Philharmonic symphony orchestra and proper opera house (I think this one is a stretch, but I'd sure enjoy it). 4) A big English language bookstore like the one at Siam Paragon or Emporium... someplace where one can browse numerous unwrapped books in an aircon environment all afternoon when there's nothing else to do. 5) Metered Taxis. 6) A proper colloseum where we can stone all the baht-bus drivers who have ever raised their voices or fists to a farang over a meager 5 baht. 7) working and synchronized traffic lights - news flash to Pattaya City Hall - installing the lights along doesn't work; they must acutally be turned on for their full effectiveness to take place. 8) Anti-gridlock laws.... so when I try and cross Thappraya Road on 3rd road under the bridge, I can get across instead of idiot baht-bus drivers heading to 2nd road blocking the intersection so *no one* can go. 9) More green areas and parks with TREES 10) More TREES lining the streets 11) Less visible UTILITY WIRES along the streets 12) No stray dogs; a proper animal control service to capture these scavangers and put the mangy, diseased ones out of their misery... thhe healthy ones sent to mine diamonds and write children's novels. 13) A law against parking attendents and guards using LOUD WHISTLES to direct you into your parking space.
