Mysterious Death of a Swedish Woman

Pattaya police were informed by a shop owner at 4 pm on 19th January that a foreign lady passed-out on the road in front of her beauty salon in Soi Bongkot, South Pattaya and requested the police to go assist her.

The police and Sawang Boriboon arrived at the scene to find Mrs. Maine Maire Vesterholm, aged 56, a Swedish lady with her eyes open on the road. When the team inspected closer, they found that she had already died.

There were 2 witnesses in that area who knew the woman.

The Beauty Shop owner told the police that Mrs. Vesterholm was evicted from the Walida Residence as earlier that day the owner told her to move out. Her belongings were piled up in front of the apartment and she had been walking up and down the Soi talking to herself until she passed out.

The other witness, Mrs. Khwan-Net, who works at a nearby bar, told the police that earlier Mrs. Vesterholm came to sit at the bar and complained to her in English but she didn’t understand what the foreigner was talking about.

The police think that Mrs. Vesterholm must have been extremely stressed by not having a place to stay and somehow went into shock and passed out but no one dared to help her.

The body was sent to the Police Forensic Laboratory for an autopsy to find the cause of death and the Swedish Embassy has been informed.

May she rest in peace.

Many, many people will not help because they don't want to get involved, because they may do the wrong thing, because they may, somehow, be found resposible for the situation, or may be asked to fork out money for an ambulance.

I think calling the cops was the right thing to do. They probably got there very quickly and are probably trained in CPR and certainly know where to take a passed out farang, whether alive or dead.

Some kindly folks will take control of the situation and load the sick or injured onto a baht bus and take to hospital. But handling the patient may make the injuries worse.

It's a tough call.

Convulsed???? Thats normally not a heart attack - hmmmm heat stroke, epileptic, dunno could be smth you took.?

Whenever the police go somewhere there is someone injured or sick Sawang Boriboon will always be with them, they are brilliant at first aid and are used to take care of people in most situations, biggest life savers in Pattaya

Thank you for that information. I've often seen Sawang Boriboon mentioned in the newspapers but didn't understand that they always come with police. Now I think about it must have been them who came with police when my friend died at home, and on that occasion police and everybody were so kind and respectful. Except I didn't like the newspapers trying to get in.

It seems that the said dead Swede was 57 years of age and was found outside the Suvonna Beauty Salon in Soi Bongkot.

She convulsed for a short time then expired.
