Energy Min looking for alternatives amid Thepa power plant suspension

 

 

BANGKOK, 5th February 2018 (NNT) – Assigned by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, the Ministry of Energy will find short-term measures to cope with power shortages as disagreement on the Thepa coal-fired power plant construction persists. 

Gen Prayut said he had instructed the Ministry of Energy to reach out to Thepa power plant protesters and find a way to settle differences in a peaceful fashion, adding that both sides must come up with a plan to tackle future shortages of power as the construction is currently suspended. 

He then asked the protesters and members of the public to understand the need for the project which will bring security and stability to the country’s energy production. 

Dismissing criticism that the government is incapable of listening, he said the government is in fact open to opinions and suggestions and that there are several channels where people can voice their concerns. For instance, millions of complaints have been submitted through Damrongtham Centers nationwide, and up to 90% of the complaints have been resolved.

here's a wacky idea, harness the power of that giant shiny thing in the sky that is seen for umpteen hours everyday, or those invisible gusts that blow in off the sea each day, or maybe even get onto some guy named Elon Musk, am sure he'll have a few ideas for stuff that might work.

But obviously as the purveyors of such radical tech give significantly thinner envelopes it's a total non-starter

The only differences were that you decided to push ahead without the proper environmental and health studies. Now that the , stop blaming the protesters and do the job properly.

Am always curios how much energy is wasted.  Solar cells are cheap.  How many government buildings are there in the region which have solar cells ?   Also, you can see many government buildings that have hundreds of singular air conditioning units.  What is their efficiency ?  How often are they maintained ?  The current government should look at its own energy consumption first to be a model for the rest of Thailand.  

Plenty of original ideas here for free thinking governments of which Thailand is not one of them. I like the one about chicken feathers.

Denying that they are in denial. 

Solar power is not that efficient yet, Windmills kill millions of birds each year.

 Musk is building his electric cars for a country that won't be able to effectively

charge all of them with the present housing power capacity, especially in older

houses. The green ideas are flawed except those with the high powered rose tinted

glasses. Plus if India can still build all those new power plants there, why can't

Thailand build just one?
