Motorcycle Cuts in Front of 18-Wheeler, Ignites in Fiery Crash: Elderly Man Dies
The incident occurred early morning on October 3, when a motorcycle collided with an 18-wheeler truck, resulting in a fiery fire ball that severely injured an elderly man, who later died from his injuries at Thung Song Hospital. The crash took place at 07:45, in front of the Border Patrol Police Division 42, in Moo 2, Tam Yai Subdistrict, Thung Song District, Nakhon Si Thammarat. Police Captain Surin Chuakaew, an investigator at Thung Song Police Station, responded to the scene after receiving reports of a collision between a truck and a motorcycle. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the 18-wheeler Hino truck, registered in Nakhon Si Thammarat, with its front damaged. Nearby, a burned-out Honda motorcycle, also registered in Nakhon Si Thammarat, was found. A grass-cutting machine was still attached to the charred remains of the bike. The motorcyclist, identified as 76-year-old Mr. Nattha (surname withheld), suffered severe burns to his entire body. He was rushed to Thung Song Hospital by rescue workers but sadly succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The truck driver, Mr. Kittipong (surname withheld), 37, waited at the scene to surrender to police. He explained that he had been driving from Thung Song market when the accident occurred. As he approached a U-turn, Mr. Nattha suddenly cut in front of the truck on his motorcycle, leaving no time to brake. The truck struck the motorcycle, causing it to scrape along the road, rupturing the petrol tank, which ignited into a ball of flames engulfing both the motorcycle and its rider. Rescue workers extinguish the fire and save Mr. Nattha, but the injuries proved fatal. Authorities conducted an autopsy before releasing the body to the family for funeral arrangements. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and witness testimonies to proceed with the legal process. Picture from responders. -- 2024-10-04 -

Pattaya Police Raid Chinese Gang Involved in Illegal Loans & Online Gambling
In a major crackdown, police in Pattaya raided a pool villa compound, uncovering a Chinese gang involved in illegal money lending and online gambling operations. The raid took place at 13:35 on October 3, led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Chatchai Surachetphong, Deputy Commander of Region 2 Police, and officers from Pattaya City Police Station. Acting on a tip-off, officers stormed three luxury pool villas in Chaiyapruek 1 Soi, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. The raid resulted in the arrest of 20 foreign nationals, all Chinese, and the seizure of 13 computers and more than 100 mobile phones. The operation followed intelligence from informants who reported suspicious behavior by Chinese nationals in the area, believed to be soliciting people to participate in illegal online gambling and loan sharking activities. At the first villa, located at 138/90, six Chinese men were found busy answering phones, coordinating illegal loans with clients. A Cambodian woman, working as a housekeeper, was also present. The villa contained more than 100 mobile phones and four laptop computers. At the second villa, located at 138/59, officers found eight Chinese nationals on the second floor, operating nine computers and a large number of mobile phones. The third villa, located at 138/77, housed five Chinese nationals, two of whom were attempting to shut down computer systems as officers arrived. Police revealed that the three villas were interconnected, each serving a specific role in the criminal network. The first villa acted as a hub for soliciting online gambling participants, while the second villa facilitated illegal money lending to fellow Chinese nationals. The third villa, allegedly serving as a food supply center for the group, raised suspicions, and further investigation is ongoing. All 20 Chinese nationals and the Cambodian housekeeper were arrested. Computers, mobile phones, and a sum of cash were confiscated. The suspects were charged with working without proper permits, with further charges pending investigation into other illegal activities. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to examine the extent of the gang’s operations and any additional crimes they may have committed. Picture courtesy of SiamChon -- 2024-10-04 -
