There you go, using ferang logic.

Granting bail gives the opportunity for face saving all round. We wouldn't want the ITD boss in jail would we? Well most of us would, but all those higher up Thais probably wouldn't.

As you say, it doesn't stop him being a flight risk. He could get a foreign passport using the Shinawatra's approved supplier.

More than likely he already has more passports than you could ever have ?

An interesting study would be the recent drama changes, it was thaksin for a long period, then luckily YL came along to change the focus, to be replaced by a watch collector (short lived as too close to home) now replaced by Rambo the hunter, this is also likely a short diversion until they can find another bunny to grace the news headlines. Of course not forgetting the wayward monks who pop-up on a regular basis to fill in the gaps.

It could be that this case is different. Even if only in the short term. Witchai is getting a lot of important support.

Maybe the support is coming from the very top as Prayut must be delighted that the subject of Prawit's watches is being pushed into history.

And add to that,Yingluck, Red Bull Boss and the jet setting Buddha and so on and son.

Finally a Thai in a position of some authority who possesses the moral superiority and scruples to stand by and do the right thing, a true inspiration...

Unfortunately this man is from the wrong background and is only one of the serf's so outstanding people like this will never be allowed to navigate LoS to being a better place for his fellow citizens
